An immersive online flagship for Dehiwala’s premier live aquarium destination — visitors dive through three scroll-driven aquatic scenes (planted aquascape, Japanese koi pond and deep monster tank), browse quarantined livestock and equipment, and engineer custom setups with a real-time tank compatibility builder.
Why it matters
Transforms aquarium shopping into an unforgettable sensory experience — and ensures first-time hobbyists build thriving, compatible biotopes.
Built with
- HTML5 Canvas
- CSS3
- JavaScript (ES6+)
- GSAP ScrollTrigger
- Lenis Smooth Scroll
The brief
An aquarium destination is a place people visit to marvel, not just to shop. The digital experience needed to capture that quiet wonder of being underwater — while giving hobbyists powerful tools to plan compatible, healthy biotopes.
The design
Deep abyssal teal palette accented by bioluminescent aqua markers, editorial Fraunces serif typography with fluid italics, and scroll-pinned living exhibits. The interface steps out of the way, letting the movement of water and fish take center stage.
The build
Engineered with scroll-pinned video viewports using GSAP ScrollTrigger and Lenis, interactive canvas caustics and cursor torchlight shaders, an intuitive category filter, and a client-side tank builder that checks temperature, pH, and adult temperament compatibility dynamically.
